Sierra Nevada Children's Choir

Connect singers to one another, their families, the community, and the wider world via performances, digital presence, varied repertoire (representing many styles, cultures, and periods of music history), and informal gatherings.

Engage singers from diverse backgrounds by building a strong, welcoming, and equitable auditioned choir with multiple levels and varied opportunities for growth and performance. Maintain expectations for high quality repertoire, technique, and sound quality. Work towards fluency in foundational music concepts such as rhythm, melody, and harmony.

Encourage independent action and individual accountability within a cooperative paradigm. Become emissaries for the power, necessity, and complexity of choral music in the current musical and cultural landscape of our area. Support local music educators in creating quality vocal music programs by providing training and support.

Sing together to find joy. Sing together to develop resilience, awareness, and compassion. Maintain connections that bolster the physical, mental, and spiritual well-being of the children in the choir. Plan meaningful and pertinent performances. Leverage relevant music learning to encourage life-long music-making and sharing.
