dnj Gallery, established in 2007, located on Ocean Park Boulevard in Santa Monica, will redirect its mission to a space with a charitable and educational purpose. The upcoming exhibitions and programs are aimed at enhancing education, raising awareness, and fundraising for specific chronic health condition.

Pamela Schoenberg, the owner and director of dnj Gallery, received her BFA in both History and Photography from Washington University in St. Louis, and her MFA in Studio Art/Photography from Mills College in Oakland, California.

After working as a fine art photographer, earning several grants (including one for the Cultural Affairs Department of Los Angeles), and running a contemporary photography gallery for about fifteen years, Schoenberg discovered the exhibit “Art and Med” at the Torrance Art Museum, curated by Ted Meyer. Meyer, artist-in-residence at the U.S.C.

Ted Meyer, at the Keck School of Medicine, organizes exhibitions and discussions highlighting the health condition of a patient/artist. In July of 1993, Schoenberg received her certificate in health coaching, and together with her family’s experience with chronic illness, Schoenberg began this new program.

Starting with a desire to explore a deeper understanding and to teach through art, Schoenberg decided to redirect the mission of dnj Gallery from solely commercial to a space with a more charitable and educational purpose. This transformation reflects Schoenberg’s commitment to utilizing art as a tool to support individuals with chronic illnesses.

This program, consisting of an art exhibit and corresponding events will bridge the gap between art and medicine, providing a platform for patient voices often overlooked in traditional galleries. It adds an additional visual component. The audience’s ability to comprehend becomes more substantial in viewing art dealing with a chronic disease, when it is created by an artist with that illness. dnj Gallery created this program to gain that distinct perspective and to form a deeper knowledge and consciousness pertaining to members in our community.,
